Update from Sherry Deane on 19 November 2008 on GDL Bill and Press conference:
The GDL bill has been filed and is SB16 (special for our 16 year-olds). It is being introduced by Senator Holdman with Senators Wyss and Tallian as co-authors. If you haven't already done so, please call or email your legislators and alert them of this bill and express your support for it and ask them to support it as well. If you receive any kind of feedback as to whether or not they support the bill, or if they have questions, etc., please let me know.
Also, don't forget about the press conference that will be held this Monday, November 24th, at 2:00 pm at the Statehouse. We will be in the North Atrium, which is the big open area on the ground level, which is considered level 2. We want as many supporters there as possible, so please plan to attend if at all possible. I will let you know that there is one piece in the bill that will require probationary drivers to display a placard identifying them as a new driver for the first 6 months of driving. This has become somewhat of an "issue" for some but we are trying to work this out. So, whether or not you support that specific component, please come in support of the remainder of the bill because I am confident any issues regarding the placard will be resolved. I would be interested in hearing your comments though regarding this issue.
