AAA Hoosier Motor Club to Host "Dare to Prepare" Program in Muncie

Indianapolis, IN (Sept. 4, 2008) – AAA Hoosier Motor Club will host its Dare to Prepare driver education program at Muncie City Hall (300 N. High Street) Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

The club initially launched Dare to Prepare in recognition of the fact that traffic crashes are the leading cause of teenage deaths in the United States.

Dare to Prepare is a free 90-minute interactive pre-permit presentation for parents and teens alike that is intended to provide critical driving-related information that teens need to know before getting behind the steering wheel of an automobile.

The program focuses on concepts and messages that may not necessarily be covered in traditional driver’s education courses such as:

·         State and national teen driving statistics;

·         Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) components;

·         State requirements for obtaining a permit and driver license;

·         Roles and responsibilities of parents;

·         What to look for in a driving school;

·         Sample parent-teen driving agreement;

·         Practical tips on teaching teens to drive;

·         Parent resources and more!

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 7,640 young drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were killed in traffic crashes during 2005.
