May 11, 2009. A three-student team from Horizon High School won $500 from AAA Insurance on Saturday following a safe driving contest at AAA Arizona’s Teen Traffic Safety Fair at the club’s Paradise Valley branch office. Teen teams from Horizon and Paradise Valley High School tested their safe driving abilities using a driving simulator provided by Driving MBA. The funds will be used to support their student government.
The event highlighted the need for parents and teens to be involved in driver training programs or workshops. Motor vehicle crashes remain the number one cause of teen deaths, surpassing drugs, alcohol, suicide and violence—combined.
With high school graduations and end of school year approaching, AAA Arizona is also offering a free traffic safety workshop this Thursday at the Paradise Valley branch office, 4046 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix. The 90-minute workshop, Dare to Prepare, provides parents and teens with tools, tips and information to help navigate the learning to drive process and prepare for a life of safe driving habits. To enroll, contact Roxanne Bravo, AAA Arizona’s traffic safety specialist, at 602.241.2945 or rbravo@arizona.aaa.com.
