The TripTik travel planner can be found at aaa.com. The TripTik Travel Planner is an online tool for producing maps and driving directions, including complete planning and destination information for cross-country road trips and fly/drive vacations. In January AAA was the first online map producer to enhance its service with location and fuel pricing information for more than 100,000 gas stations nationwide. Another feature that distinguishes the TripTik from other online trip planners is direct access to AAA's proprietary travel information along their route. Icons display specific categories of information such as sightseeing options, dining ideas and AAA Diamond rated hotels. The TripTik travel planner was trademarked by AAA in 1932 and was taken online in 2000. Nowadays 70 percent of TripTik travel planner requests from AAA members come from online. "We are very excited that one of the most widely used AAA services is now available for the general public," said AAA Colorado travel services director Sandra Barnes. "As more become aware of this tool, it could change how people prepare to go on vacation or take a road trip." Some Features of TripTik Access maps and driving directions without an address by selecting locations in categories such as lodgings, national parks, airports, cruise ports, golf courses, colleges and universities, and pro sports venues. Current road construction, traffic congestion and AAA Scenic Byways information are identified. The "Modify Route" feature enables users to customize trips using the roads they prefer. Take a AAA Scenic Byway, return home via a different route, or avoid major construction. Advisories for winter road closures at major destinations and alternate route information.
