Long-Term Care Insurance: An Important Part of Retirement and Financial Planning

When making retirement plans, many of us focus on our needs for regular income, travel and other goals. Too often, we're unaware of the escalating costs of long-term care and their impact on our financial plans.
Government spending on Medicare home health care funding and Medicaid has been curbed, putting more financial pressure on consumers. And, according to a recent study conducted by the MetLife Mature Market Institute, charges for nursing home care currently average $141 per day.
One solution to this challenge is long-term care insurance. It can help consumers remain financially independent and avoid the need to rely on family and/or government programs to provide long-term care. This kind of insurance protection also helps consumers protect assets.
AAA Colorado's independent insurance agency now offers long-term care insurance. Our trained professionals can answer your questions and can offer you this valuable protection at rates that have been specially discounted for AAA members. Call the AAA Colorado office nearest you and set up a no-obligation, informational meeting soon.

We're Off Again! Announcing the AAA Colorado 2001 President's Cruise

It's official. The 2001 AAA Colorado President's Cruise will set sail from Honolulu, Hawaii on November 10, 2001 for seven luxurious nights aboard thems Patriot, a new ship from United States Line.
This year, AAA Colorado's president, Tony DeNovellis and his wife, Judy, along with former Club president, Steve Seay, and his wife, Joyce, will welcome members on a tour of five Hawaiian ports on four islands. As in years past, there will be a special on-board event, exclusively for AAA Colorado travelers.
The Club's President's Cruise has become one of our most popular travel opportunities, and in 2001 we'll keep that tradition going strong. For complete information about the 2001 President's Cruise through the Hawaiian Islands, call or visit your neighborhood AAA travel office agency. See our Feature article also!

ZIP Code Changes

Member service representatives remind us that in some cases, ZIP codes in Colorado have been changed. When this happens, some members may not receive their copies of The Motorist. If you know AAA members who have not received regular issues of this magazine, please encourage them to telephone us at 303-753-8800, ext. 8151. We'll check our records and make sure all address information is accurate. The Motorist is one of our most popular member benefits and we want to make sure all Club members receive it regularly.

AAA Stored Value Cards Give Members New Payment Options

The AAA Stored Value Card program has recently been introduced for members. This program gives you three convenient new ways to give yourself more purchasing power. Designed as a safe and simple alternative to cash and checks, AAA stored value Visa cards contain prepaid dollar amounts that can be used to purchase products and services.
An additional benefit: When you use the Stored Value Card, you can manage your spending more carefully.
With AAA Global Currency, the AAA Gift Card, and AAA EveryDay Funds, you can deposit an amount of your choice. Then, when you or the cardholder make purchases or transactions, the item amounts are automatically deducted from the total value on the card. It's ideal for travel and it makes a great gift idea, too.
AAA provides two convenient ways to purchase or add funds to your stored value cards. You can visit them on-line or call toll-free, 877-233-9244. Reloading cards is fast and efficient, and you can add funds to your cards any time you choose.
Here's a quick overview of the three types of AAA Stored Value cards available:
- AAA Global Currency is a smart choice when you're traveling internationally. It can provide you with the appropriate monetary units you need, and you can obtain funds at a favorable foreign exchange rate.
- The AAA Gift Card makes a unique present. AAA Gift Cards are the size of regular Visa cards and they fit nicely into standard greeting cards for mailing safety.
- AAA EveryDay Funds are embossed, reloadable prepaid Visa cards. They're great to help you manage your own and your family's spending. You can use them for allowances or college expenses for students and for other, regular needs as well.

AAA Offers New Online Services with Internet TripTik® Electronic Routing

AAA TripTiks® are among the Club's most popular member benefits and it has been a flagship product since the Club began. Now, AAA has taken these popular trip planners into the world of the Internet. With this new Internet service, members can request and print TripTiks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The AAA Internet TripTik electronic routing offers city-to-city mapping and narrative directions, and includes information such as detour and construction zones, ferry schedules and scenic byway notification. After entering your starting point and destination, you will receive a four-color overview map of the entire route, along with separate "tiles" showing each segment of your route in detail. The TripTik map prints out in color or black and white, using standard 8-1/2 x 11-inch paper.
With the Internet TripTik, you have the option to customize your route with a special "via" option. In addition, the Internet TripTik offers course plotting between non-city origins and destinations, such as airports, major national and state parks, and AAA-starred attractions. With these functions, members can easily travel from any major airport to an area's most popular attractions.
AAA will continue to add features and functions to the Internet TripTik, making it even more valuable for members. Enhancements now in development include the addition of lodging and restaurant information. Now, AAA can help you plan your next road trip right from your computer desktop.
