Club Launches "Dare to Prepare" ProgramIndianapolis, IN (March 17, 2008) – In recognition of the fact that traffic crashes are the leading cause of teen deaths, AAA Hoosier Motor Club is proud to announce the launch of its Dare to Prepare program.
Dare to Prepare is a free 90-minute interactive pre-permit program for parents and teens alike that is intended to provide critical driving-related information that teens need to know before getting behind the steering wheel of an automobile.
The program focuses on concepts and messages that may not necessarily be covered in traditional driver’s education courses such as: · State and national teen driving statistics; · Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) components; · State requirements for obtaining a permit and driver license; · Roles and responsibilities of parents; · What to look for in a driving school; · Sample parent-teen driving agreement; · Practical tips on teaching teens to drive; · Parent resources and more!
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 7,640 young drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were killed in traffic crashes during 2005.
AAA Hoosier Motor Club’s first Dare to Prepare program will take place at Greenwood’s Johnson County Library – White River Branch (1664 Library Blvd.) on March 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Space is limited and pre-registration is requested but not required. Anyone interested in attending the Greenwood event or potentially hosting one in the future is asked to contact AAA Hoosier Motor Club at 317-923-1500, ext. 251 or via email at ADSN@aaahoosier.com.
