Complimentary Car Seat Clinic Scheduled for June 10
Indianapolis, IN (May 29,
2008) –
AAA Hoosier Motor Club will
assist the Marion County Traffic Safety Partnership and the
Automotive Safety Program at Riley Hospital for Children in
conducting a complimentary child safety seat fitting clinic
June 10 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Children’s Bureau
Inc. Exchange Club Family Support Center.
The Center is located at
1575 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street.
Certified child passenger
safety seat technicians, including some from AAA Hoosier
Motor Club, will work with volunteers from the Exchange Club
of Speedway and the Children’s Bureau to show parents and
caregivers how to properly install safety seats in vehicles
and how to secure children in their respective seats during
the event.
All participants will be
required to have their vehicle present along with the child
being fitted and the respective car seat itself in order to
ensure proper installation and instruction.
National studies continue to
show that more than 80 percent of existing child safety
seats are being misused. Sadly, local technicians who often
help conduct clinics in central Indiana often report misuse
rates as high as 90 to 95 percent.
Additionally, during the
June 10 event, BMV2You, a mobile license branch where
prospective BMV customers can conveniently access select BMV
services, will be on site.
Those interested in
attending the clinic and having their car seats inspected
should schedule an advance appointment by calling
317-327-5356.
