Guests now can enjoy the thrills of downtown without ever leaving the Disneyland Resort. Downtowns Disney is the ultimate entertainment district, and allows guests to come and go as they like, day or night. The magnificent pedestrian esplanade requires no admission, and features some of the nation’s most innovative shipping, restaurants and entertainment Downtown Disney tenants include House of Blues, ESPN Zone, AMC Theatres, Rainforest Café, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, World of Disney, and a Latin dining and entertainment club called y Arriba! Y Arriba! Hollywood-based House of Blues offers a unique twist on its blues-jazz based restaurant and club, featuring Delta-inspired cuisine and a variety of music. The chain operates seven other restaurants and clubs nationwide. Disney-owned ESPN Zone offers the ultimate sports themed dining and entertainment experience at Downtown Disney. The Zone is composed of three distinct components: the Studio Grill, serving great American grill food in an authentic ESPN studio setting; the Screening Room, offering any game on the air in the ultimate sports-viewing environment; and the Sports Arena, which challenges fans with the latest in interactive and competitive attractions. The AMC Theatres Downtown Disney project at the Disneyland Resort includes a 12-screen megaplex theater, featuring 3,000 stadium-style seats and the finest amenities for moviegoers. Rainforest Café of Minneapolis opens the largest of its themed restaurants, Rainforest Café, A wild Place to Shop and Eat, to Downtown Disney guests. Rainforest Café offers unique food, entertainment and retail components in a setting that recreates a tropical rain forest using a combination of live and animated wildlife and other special effects. The Ralf Brennan Restaurant Group, a staple of the New Orleans’ fine-dining restaurant scene, brings its Jazz Kitchen to Downtown Disney. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen combines a spicy mix of New Orleans traditional foods along with hot jazz. Downtown Disney also features World of Disney-offering a vast and diverse range of Disney toys, souvenirs, accessories and collectibles in a variety of colorful and imaginatively decorated themed shopping areas. At 40, 000 square-feet, World of Disney is one of the largest Disney shopping experiences on Earth, second only to its sister store at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Y Arriba! Y Arriba!, a unique tapas-teatro combining Latin dishes with live entertainment and dancing, is provided by the Miami-based Cachladora/Currais family, whose most recent success has been Club Troigala in Miami Beach. The Downtown Disney district is part of a $1.4 billion expansion of the Disneyland Resort. The entertainment district makes up the third major element of the Resort’s expansion within a lush garden-like complex that connects the two-theme parks-Disney California Adventure and Disneyland – together with the Disneyland Resort hotels. The new Resort also includes the new Disney’s California Adventure theme park and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, a deluxe, 750-room resort hotel property.
