Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions
Who can use AAA Prescription Savings?
AAA members and all members of the household – including pets – can use AAA Prescription Savings.
How much does the program cost?
AAA Prescription Savings is free with AAA membership.
What pet prescriptions are eligible for a discount?
Prescription medication that is also generally prescribed for human conditions may receive a discount by taking the prescription, written by a vet, to a participating retail pharmacy.
Can AAA members use their card to get discounts on over-the-counter products and non-prescription medications?
Not usually. However, discounts are available for many diabetic supplies, with a prescription.
How is AAA Prescription Savings different from traditional prescription insurance?
This is NOT insurance; it is a prescription discount program. AAA Prescription Savings provides immediate discounts at the pharmacy. Upon presenting the AAA Prescription Savings card to a pharmacist, the member will pay the lower of a discounted price or the pharmacy’s regular retail price. There are no claim forms to fill out and no limit to the number of times members can use the card. These discounts are available only at participating pharmacies.
Can a member use the card along with their insurance?
AAA Prescription Savings cannot be used in conjunction with any insurance plan. However, members are able to use their card to purchase prescriptions that are not covered by insurance.
What does a member need to present to receive the discount at the pharmacy?
Some AAA membership cards include AAA Prescription Savings information on the back of the card. If so, simply present the AAA membership card when submitting your prescription order or refill. If not, click here to down load a AAA Prescription Savings card to use to obtain the discount.

How much can members save?
Savings on each prescription may vary; members can save an average of 24 percent off of the pharmacy’s regular retail prices for prescription drugs. In addition, they may save even more by choosing a generic medication when available. Members can visit www.AAA.com/prescriptions to obtain a price estimate for a prescription medication before visiting the pharmacy.
Will members always receive the lowest price?
