Platéia Syntagmatos
Noisy, crowded, Platéia Syntagmatos (Constitution Square) is the heart of modern Athens, where you'll find hotels, offices,
banks, restaurants, cafés and myriad jostling Athenians. The vast neoclassic edifice at the top is the Voulí (Parliament Building),
once the royal palace. In front of it is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, patrolled around the clock by the Evzones, a guard
of honor whose dress uniform features a short pleated kilt and pom-poms on their shoes. The central, pedestrianized area was
refurbished in 2004.
