Laid out in the 19th century by Queen Amalia, this is a true southern Mediterranean garden - no colorful flowerbeds, but deep shade and sylvan green. With plenty of benches and cafés, the gardens are a good place for a picnic. Within the grounds is a botanical museum with samples of all the gardens' plants, many rare.
