Snowy Mountains

( Highly Recommended )

In the state's far south, reached via the town of Jindabyne, this upland region encompasses Kosciuszko National Park, where you can ski in winter from the resorts of Thredbo and Perisher Blue. The wilderness park contains heathland and alpine vegetation, as well as Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's highest point (just 2,228m). In summer the area is great for bushwalking, trout fishing, horse riding and mountain biking.
