There are two city rail networks: the subway (U-Bahn) and the city railroad (S-Bahn), and tickets are interchangeable. The S-Bahn is marked on the Berlin city map as an “S” in a red circle. Buy tickets (valid for all forms of transport) in the station foyer and validate them in the machine on the platform. Trains run daily 5 a.m.-12:30 a.m.; U-Bahn lines 9 and 12 and S-Bahn line 7 run all night Friday and Saturday. Bus route 100 runs through the center from Bahnhof Zoo (Zoo station) in the west to Unter den Linden in the east. The main bus terminal is Funkturm (PHONE: 030 3010 0171). Trams are mainly confined to eastern parts of the city. Taxi stands are all over the city. Use only metered cabs (PHONE: 030 261 026 or 030 210 101).
