Finding Your Way

If you arrive at Bruges railroad station you will find a small tourist information office on Stationsplein, outside the station to the right. It is only a short bus ride from Stationsplein to Bruges' grand central square, the Markt, a good place to start sightseeing. A short walk along Breidelstraat, the street that begins at the southeast corner of the Markt, is the Burg, the historic heart of Bruges.

You can enjoy Bruges through guided tours, on foot, by bicycle, by bus or by canal boat (daily Mar.-Nov., weekends only rest of year). Trips on the famous horse-drawn carriages and trams of Bruges are enjoyable but expensive. The city is an easy and rewarding place to explore on your own, however.
