ELECTRICITY

The Czech Republic has a 220-volt power supply. Electrical sockets take plugs with two round pins; American appliances will need a plug adapter, and will require a transformer if they do not have a dual-voltage facility.

RESTROOMS

Public restrooms (toaleta) are not easy to find, and you may be charged for toilet tissue. It may be best to use a café or restaurant facility after buying a drink. Attendants appreciate small change - 2Kč or thereabouts - as this may be their only wage.

PHOTOGRAPHY

The Czech Republic is an amateur photographer's dream: the picturesque vistas make almost every photo postcard-perfect. You can buy film in the small shops at Staré Město in the Old Town and Malá Strana in the Lesser Quarter. Avoid Czech brands of color film - you may not be able to get them processed outside the country. Many stores in tourist areas offer developing services.
