Museum Schnütgen

Some of the best Medieval religious art and furnishings in the city can be seen at the Schnütgen Museum, which occupies the deconsecrated church of St. Cäcilien. Among other treasures are original carvings from the cathedral altar and some beautiful ivory pieces. The carved memento mori (reminders of mortality) are chilling depictions of human bodies in a state of decay.
