Things To Know Finding Your Way The Heart of Dublin The Ha'penny Bridge	The Ha'penny Bridge Dublin's Ha'penny Bridge, over the River Liffey, is best reached from Temple Bar by going down the narrow Merchant's Arch - look closely for the symbols of nearby stores carved into the pavement. The bridge dates from 1816 and is made of cast iron; its elegant arches are lit up at night. It was officially named the Wellington Bridge after the British Duke of Wellington, but gained its popular name from the half-penny toll once charged for crossing it.
