ELECTRICITY
Finland has a 220-volt power supply. Electrical sockets take plugs with two round pins; American appliances will need a plug
adapter and will require a transformer if they do not have a dual-voltage facility.
RESTROOMS
Public restrooms are easy to find, immaculately clean and modern, and are designated by Miehille/Miehet (men) and Naisille/Naiset
(women). There may be a small charge, but many are free. Attendants welcome loose change as a tip.
PHOTOGRAPHY
There is a contrast in seasonal light conditions: subarctic winter nights are long, while in the north the midnight sun shines
throughout the summer. Bring a tripod if you hope to photograph the northern lights (aurora borealis). Check whether photography
is permitted in museums. Film and batteries can be purchased at tourist-oriented stores, and rapid-developing services are
widely available.
