ELECTRICITY

Germany has a 220-volt power supply. Electrical sockets take plugs with two round pins or sometimes three pins in a vertical row; American appliances will need a plug adapter and will require a transformer if they do not have a dual-voltage facility.

RESTROOMS

Finding a restroom (Toilette) is not difficult; they are usually identified by symbols, or are designated Herren (men) and Damen or Frauen (women). Most are free, although some are operated by a 20¢ coin. If there is an attendant, small change is appreciated as a tip.

PHOTOGRAPHY

In addition to the glorious architecture of the big cities, there are many colorful, quaint street scenes to be snapped in provincial Germany, and the landscapes are equally appealing. Photography is generally forbidden in museums and churches or needs special permission. Quality brand film and batteries are easy to find, and there are many rapid-developing facilities.
