ELECTRICITY
Greece has a 220-volt power supply. Electrical sockets take plugs with two round pins; American appliances will need a plug
adapter and will require a transformer if they do not have a dual-voltage facility.
RESTROOMS
Finding a clean restroom (toualéta) away from tourist areas can be difficult. It is advisable to use facilities in cafés
and restaurants after buying a drink. Restrooms are free. The Greek sewage system does not take toilet tissue, even in café
and restaurant facilities; use the wastebin provided.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The sun in Greece is strong, and slow film is ideal. Photograph the sights early in the morning, before the crowds mass and
when the light is at its best. In rural areas deep blue seas and rustic villages make interesting subjects. Never take shots
near military bases, and ask first in museums and churches. Brand names of film and camera batteries are widely available.
