ELECTRICITY

Hungary has a 220-volt power supply. Electrical sockets take plugs with two round pins; American appliances will need a plug adapter and will require a transformer if they do not have a dual-voltage facility.

RESTROOMS

Public restrooms (mosdó) are fairly easy to find, and are usually indicated by a symbol or marked WC, and designated by férfi for men and nöi for women. A charge of between 20 and 80¢ may be made.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Hungary has spectacular landscapes, including the Danube bend north of Budapest, one of the most beautiful stretches of this great river, and romantic Lake Balaton, framed by vineyards. Vendors near historic sights sell overpriced 35mm color film; it is widely available, so buy it elsewhere. Batteries and developing services are available in towns and cities.
