Museu Calouste Gulbenkian

Portugal's greatest museum, the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian (Calouste Gulbenkian Museum) was financed by a bequest from the Armenian magnate, whose private collection makes up the bulk of the exhibits. It comprises two sections: European art and artifacts, and Oriental and ancient pieces. The museum is not vast, but everything it contains is of the highest quality. Most visitors are particularly enthralled by the Lalique jewelry and glass, distinctive art deco pieces displayed in a darkened room.
