Hotel Prices
All prices are for one night's double room, whatever the occupancy - though American visitors should note that it is rare
for a whole family to be allowed to share.
Hotel Ratings Most hotel rates are inclusive of all taxes, service charges and breakfast, which usually means full English breakfast, though do check this. Perversely, only the most expensive hotels have the temerity to charge extra for breakfast. On a Budget Travellers on a wafer-thin budget should consider staying at one of London's 18 YMCA/YWCA hostels or at one of the seven YHA hostels. The YHA hostels in particular are extremely good value and in surprisingly central locations, consequently you'll generally need to book at least three months ahead for the summer. Contact the YMCA/YWCA at 640 Forest Road E17 Phone: (020) 8520 5599, and the YHA, 8 St Stephen's Hill, St Alban's, Herts AL1 2DY Phone: 01727 855215. London Tourist Board offices can help with other student, youth and group accommodation. Booking a Bed If you arrive in London without accommodation, don't worry. You can make same-day bookings at the tourist information centres at Victoria Station, Liverpool Street Station, Heathrow Airport, Selfridges and the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station. There is a small charge for this service. Useful websites www.londonhomestay.co.uk, www.londonnet.co.uk, www.timeout.co.uk |
