Asamkirche

The Asamkirche (Asam Church) is a stunning example of baroque architecture. Built as a private chapel 1733-46 by architect and sculptor Egid Quirin Asam and his brother Cosmas Damian Asam, it was opened to the public in 1746. Every inch is decorated with gold leaf, sculptures and frescoes. One of Asam's works is at the altar, showing the crucified Christ in God's embrace - The Throne of Mercy.
