Frauenkirche

Munich's twin-towered cathedral (Church of Our Dear Lady), a famous city landmark, was built between 1468 and 1488, but was left without a roof. In 1524 its green onion domes were “temporarily” added - and have been there ever since. Near the entrance is a footprint in the floor, said to be that of the devil, who stamped with glee thinking that the architect had forgotten to put in the windows. In fact, the windows can't be seen from where the devil was standing - but they are there. The south tower can be climbed.
