MONEY

New Zealand currency is decimal based and divided into dollars and cents. The New Zealand dollar is not tied to any other currency. Coins now in circulation are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents and in 1 and 2 dollars. Notes are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollars.

There is no limit to the amount of NZ dollars that may be brought into or taken out of the country.

Credit cards are widely accepted and include Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Diners Club, and travelers checks can be changed at banks and Change Bureaux in all towns.
