The forested hills to Auckland's west offer a scenic drive with bush scenery and views across the city. Signposted as Scenic Route 24, the drive starts at New Lynn and passes through Titirangi to Arataki Visitor Centre, where cantilevered platforms provide breathtaking views of the rainforest and Manukau Harbour. Inside the center are informative displays about the wildlife and plants of the area. You can also drive on to the beautiful ocean beaches of Piha, Karekare, Bethells (Te Henga), and Muriwai, where you can view a gannet colony close-up.
