Auckland Zoo

( Do not miss )

Situated near the Museum of Transport, Technology and Social History, and connected to it by vintage tram, Auckland's zoo houses a selection of the usual overseas creatures plus native species such as the kiwi in a nocturnal house, and indigenous birds in a forest aviary. There is a farm animal section for children and Pridelands, which is a simulated African savannah enclosure featuring giraffes, zebras, and other animals. Auckland Zoo's endangered species program is internationally recognized.
