Located within a Victorian edifice, the main gallery has an important collection of New Zealand and imported paintings, prints, and drawings. Important touring displays from overseas also feature here (admission charge).
Opposite is the New Gallery, an annex of contemporary art, and close by is the Auckland Central Public Library which houses a collection of historic and rare books.
