Noted British naturalist Dr David Bellamy has referred to New Zealand as "Moa's Ark" - the moa (now extinct) being one of the country's indigenous flightless birds and ark being a reference to the country's split from the supposed Gondwana super-continent, including Australia and Antarctica, some 80 million years ago.
