Motels

Motels in New Zealand are generally a most acceptable form of accommodations. They usually have kitchen (self-catering) facilities in each room unit rather than a central dining room, although breakfast may be provided to units on request.

Holiday Parks

The term holiday park usually indicates a camping ground for both tents and motorhomes and there are usually a number of cabins and/or tourist apartments for rent as well. Guests may be required to provide their own bed-linen, cutlery, and utensils. Facilities such as washing rooms and lighting range from the basic to the quite luxurious.

Booking Ahead

Regardless of your choice of accommodations, remember that the summer season, from October through to April, is the busiest time. Most hotels are full in February and March, and most motels tend to be full in December and January. Booking ahead for these months at least, as well as during New Zealand's school and public holidays, is advisable.
