New Year (1 and 2 January), Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December), Waitangi: National Day (6 February), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day: Memorial Day for War Dead (25 April), Queen's Birthday (first Monday of June), Labour Day (fourth Monday of October)

Most stores and attractions are closed on Christmas Day, Good Friday, and the morn-ing of Anzac Day. Tourist amenities are usually open on the other public holidays. There are also regional holidays which correspond to the founding days of each of the country's 13 provinces. The main ones are : Wellington region: The third Monday in January. Auckland, Bay of Islands, Rotorua and Taupo: Fourth Monday in January. Christchurch: During Carnival Week in November. Queenstown and Dunedin: Third Monday of March.

Summer: mid-December to late January, April: first two weeks, Mid-term: two weeks from late June to early July, September: last two weeks
