Sèvres, Musée National de la Céramique de
( Worth Seeing )

The name of this Paris suburb was made famous by the porcelain factory transferred here in 1756 from its previous location in Vincennes. The unique 'Sèvres blue' ware, also known as 'lapis blue', became its trademark. The Musée National de la Céramique was founded at the beginning of the 19th century to house various collections of Sèvres and Saxe porcelain, Italian Renaissance ceramics, antique terracotta objects, glazed earthenware from the Far East and ceramics from elsewhere.
