DRIVING Speed limits on toll motorways (autoroutes) 130kph (110kph when wet). Non-toll motorways and dual carriageways: 110kph (100kph when wet). Paris ring road (périphérique): 80kph. Speed limits on country roads: 90kph (80kph when wet) Speed limits on urban roads: 50kph Seat Belts: Must be worn in front seats at all times and in rear seats where fitted. Random breath-testing frequent. Limit: 0.05 per cent alcohol in blood. Leaded petrol is sold as essence super (98 octane). Unleaded is available in two grades: essence sans plomb (95 octane) and essence super sans plomb (98 octane). Diesel (Gasoil or Gazole) is also readily available.
