Located in one of the historic houses on Old Town Square, this fascinating museum has two sections. Upstairs is a glittering exhibition on the history of Czech glass-making from the 14th to the 20th centuries. The displays range from beaded medieval flute glasses to gilt-etched drinking sets, made in Karlovy Vary in the 1920s by Ludwig Moser and sons. There are some exquisite examples of the baroque Bohemian glassware which drove the Venetians from the market in the 18th century, embossed Biedermeier vases with delicate painted decoration and ornamental glass of the art nouveau period. Downstairs, in the furnace, visitors are given a demonstration of the various glass-blowing techniques. The items produced here are on sale in the museum shop.
