Forested with beech, fir and spruce, this beautiful area of gently rolling upland lies along the German border. Above the tree line are meadows and grasslands which flower in spring and summer. South of Sušice, a 7km nature trail leads through the scenic Vydra Valley, which can also be reached by road (route 169). Alternatively, take the 163, which follows the course of the Vltava and the impressive Lipno dam. From here it's a short drive (42km) north again to one of the most beautiful towns of the Czech Republic, Český Krumlov.
