ELECTRICITY
Most of Spain has a 220-volt power supply, but in some rural areas the supply is 110 or 125 volts. Electrical sockets take
plugs with two round pins; American appliances will need a plug adapter, and either a dual voltage facility or a transformer.
RESTROOMS
Public restrooms (servicios) can usually be found in large department stores, museums and other places of interest to
visitors. Elsewhere, restrooms may not be easy to find, but there is no charge. If you use the facilities in a bar you will
be expected to buy a drink. Spanish words are señores for men and señoras for women.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The Spanish summer sun can be powerful at noon, making photos appear flat; take your pictures early in the morning or late
in the evening. Ask permission before taking pictures in museums and churches. Film and camera batteries are readily available
from specialist stores and department stores.
