Giralda

When Christians destroyed the mosque to build the cathedral, they kept the minaret and transformed it into the new cathedral's bell tower. Nicknamed the Giralda, the “weather-vane,” the 322-foot-tall tower was built in the 12th century. Instead of stairs, you climb a series of interior ramps; 17 levels lead to the top, from where there are views over Seville. Below the tower lies the lovely Patio de los Naranjos (Courtyard of the Orange Trees), once part of the mosque.
