Traditionally styled and lavishly decorated with thousands of colored tiles, the 650-foot-wide plaza is framed by a semicircular range of buildings and encircled by a canal. The park, laid out in the 19th century, is a tranquil area with pools and fountains. It plays a central part in Seville's Spring Festival, when hundreds of horsemen accompany carriages of smiling, silk-robed girls around the park.
