Introduction
Strasbourg's tiny historic center, circled by arms of the Ill river, could easily lull a visitor into thinking that there
was little more to the city than picturesque streets, a breathtakingly beautiful cathedral and a huge number of restaurants.
But beyond its medieval core lie grandiose 19th-century civic buildings, an ancient university and the gleaming buildings
housing European institutions, since Strasbourg is the seat of the European Parliament. It's a prosperous, cosmopolitan city,
a beguiling blend of ancient and modern, Teutonic and French.
