Jorvik
This very popular attraction reveals the archeological remains of Viking York, or Jorvik, unearthed here from 1976 to 1981.
Deep underground, you're shuttled back in time 1,000 years to a reconstructed Viking street complete with thatched houses,
lifelike figures and the evocative sounds and smells of everyday life. Traveling in a “time capsule” back to the year AD 975,
you “fly” across the city, over streets and backyards, to discover how a Viking settlement of 10,000 people functioned on
this very site.
