This version of Internet TripTik offers city-to-city routings between more than 100,000 US cities, national/state parks, and AAA GEM (formerly known as starred) attractions - more than 10 billion possible route combinations! After entering an origin and destination, you will receive a color overview map of the entire route, a summary of the mileage and driving time and a narrative description of the route. This will be followed with "tiles" showing each segment of the route (and the appropriate narrative) in greater detail. You can also "explore" using the "live map" functionality. AAA's proprietary highway data, including detour & construction, scenic byways and ferry information is presented along with the route. A "via" option is available to help define the overall route.

Available to PC users (Macintosh not yet supported) with Internet browsers Netscape 4.08 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600.
Java version
PC users with Internet browsers Netscape 4.08 or higher or Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and minimum screen resolution 800 x 600 should be able to use the advanced Java version of the Internet TripTik. To access the Java version, you will need to install the Java 1.3 Plug-in (if you don't have it already). The size of the Plug-in is about 5 megabytes. This is a free, one-time download/installation and need not be performed again. Macintosh OS does not support the Java 1.3 plug-in.
For Netscape users, follow these directions for downloading the plug-in after selecting Java Internet TripTik:
Click on the get plug-in icon
Next dialog box click Get The Plug-in button
When the Sun web page comes up click Continue button under U.S. English version one large bundle
At the Terms and Conditions dialog box click Accept button
At the next dialog box click FTP Download button and note location of download file
Close browser
Go to downloaded file and double click on it
At license agreement dialog box click Yes button
Accept defaults during installation by clicking the Next button at each dialog box
After install is complete re-open browser and return to Internet TripTik home page
For Internet Explorer users, follow these directions for downloading the plug-in after selecting Java Internet TripTik:
At the dialog box that ask if you want to install the plug-in click Yes button
Next dialog box click Install button
At the license dialog box click Yes button
Accept defaults during installation by clicking the Next button at each dialog box
The Internet TripTik window will return and begin to run momentarily
Java plug-in removal instructions:
Left click on the Start button located on the Microsoft Taskbar Left click on Settings Left click on Control Panel Inside the Control Panel window with the left button double click on Add/Remove Programs When the Add/Remove Programs dialog box appears, locate the Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3 program and left click on it once to highlight it. Left click Add/Remove button When the Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears left click Yes button. Removal will begin. When Remove Shared File? dialog box appears left click on Yes button Uninstall Successfully Completed dialog box will appear, left click on O.K. button Another confirmation dialog box will appear, left click on O.K. button Reboot system
