Idyllwild is a serene resort community off SR 243 in the San Jacinto Mountains. Founded as a logging camp in the late 1800s, the area today is known for hiking trails, and camping and rock-climbing opportunities. In recent years, Idyllwild has become a popular “art town” destination for its galleries, music festivals and cultural events. The 205-acre Idyllwild Arts Academy hosts the annual Jazz in the Pines Festival in August as well as a summer program for some 1,300 aspiring performers, writers and artists. The Parks Exhibition Center displays works by academy students and the Krone Museum uses displays to tell the story of the academy's history; phone (951) 659-2171. Learn More...
