Founded in 1882, McCook developed along with the Burlington Railroad line on which it was built. Originally called Fairview, the town was renamed after Gen. Alexander McCook. The railroad boom in 1882 resulted in the construction of more than 100 buildings, and increased rail use in the 1920s caused McCook's population to double. Learn More...
