With its rocky, boulder-strewn beaches and harbor dotted by quaint fishing boats, Rockport is the site of a well-known artists' colony on Cape Ann, made famous by Rudyard Kipling's novel “Captains Courageous.” Dubbed Motif No. 1, a red fishing shack built in the 1840s on Bradley Wharf has been the subject of hundreds of paintings.
