After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, more than 100,000 Japanese Americans were sent to detainment camps. At the same time, farms such as the one owned by Charles Franklin Seabrook were in need of help, and an arrangement allowed them to leave the camps and work as seasonal farm employees.
