Watertown, one of the earliest of the Massachusetts Bay English settlements, has a number of well-preserved historical structures from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. The Browne House, 562 Main St., a “one-over-one” dwelling built circa 1694-1701, is the oldest. Although only open for guided tours a few days out of the year, the structure boasts such exterior features as a steeply pitched roof and diamond-patterned casement windows. Phone (617) 994-6660.
