A northern suburb of Indianapolis, Zionsville materialized in 1852 as a community along the Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Lafayette Railroad. With the establishment of the Zion Park Assembly on the banks of Lake Como in the late 19th century, Zionsville developed into a cultural center frequented by such intellectuals as Democratic and Populist leader William Jennings Bryan, best known for his assistance in prosecuting the Scopes trial, and Albert J.
