DescriptionAt the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, American Fork lies in the shadow of 11,750-foot Mount Timpanogos. Within Utah Lake State Park, at the southern edge of town, is the largest body of fresh water in the intermountain region. Popular activities are boating, fishing and skiing. Duck hunting is permitted on the lake beyond the state park boundaries.
The Alpine Scenic Loop, a paved highway, encircles Mount Timpanogos; it is especially well known for a spectacular autumn foliage display. Points of interest along the 45-minute drive include Bridal Veil Falls, Timpanogos Cave National Monument and American Fork Canyon. This road is narrow and therefore not recommended for RVs.
