DescriptionPlatted in 1855, Arcola is in the northern corner of what was once known as the Broomcorn Belt. Broomcorn, used in broom making, has a finer leaf and bushier tassel than grain corn. The town's history is portrayed in 15 murals painted on downtown buildings. Homemade quilts and crafts can be found at a large Amish community just west of town.
